Whenever possible and deemed safe for the child, we believe in helping to keep the family unit together. Through sponsorship we are able to provide the child with an education, a monthly food distribution, medical assistance, and the knowledge of Jesus Christ with the opportunity to accept Him into their life. Oftentimes we observe that the child ends up teaching their family members they live with about Jesus and the whole family is then transformed. Under this "Hope for the Village" umbrella, we have a preschool (Firm Foundation Preschool) in a remote village where there is no other safe place for young children while their parents are working in their fields during the day. In Better Hands also provides hostel homes in different countries, for children that desire an education but live in such remote locations, school is not an option without living during the school year in a hostel.
DEFEND THE CAUSE OF THE WEAK AND FATHERLESS; MAINTAIN THE RIGHTS OF THE
POOR AND OPPRESSED. PSALM 82:3
RELIGION THAT GOD OUR FATHER ACCEPTS AS PURE AND FAULTLESS IS THIS: TO LOOK AFTER ORPHANS AND WIDOWS IN THEIR DISTRESS AND TO KEEP ONESELF FROM BEING POLLUTED BY THE WORLD. JAMES 1:27

Across Asia, there are many babies that are abandoned after birth. Some mothers are very young and have no idea how they could raise a baby, others abandon their baby because of cultural conflicts. Very few organizations are willing to accept babies because of all the necessary responsibilities and expenses. In Better Hands has experienced time after time the Lord providing for our needs as we accept unwanted babies into our ministry.
LEARN TO DO GOOD; SEEK JUSTICE, REPROVE THE RUTHLESS, DEFEND THE ORPHANS,
PLEAD FOR THE WIDOW. ISAIAH 1:17

In Asia, it is the primary responsibility of the immediate family to care for their parents as they age. If someone has no spouse or children, the elderly person will be in a difficult situation and is often overlooked in society. In Better Hands cares for widows, those that have no one else in their life that can care for them.
