Hope for the Village
Hello! My name is Soknak, and I am six years old. My father is a farmer, and my mother works as a hired farm worker. My whole family lives in my grandmother’s house because our own home is broken down, and we have nowhere else to stay.
I was born into a very poor family. My parents used to gamble a lot. They even sold our motorbike to continue gambling, and they did not pay much attention to me and my sisters, especially when it came to food and care. Because of our difficult situation, my sisters and I often did not have enough food to eat, and we rarely had nutritious meals. This also affected my studies. I was often sick, struggled to pay attention in school, and many times I wanted to stop studying.
One day, my mother heard about In Better Hands. She asked the social workers for help so that our family could join the organization’s program. The social workers met with my mother and began supporting our family, especially by helping my parents address their gambling problem. After many meetings and much encouragement, my parents began to change. They stopped gambling and started working harder to care for our family.
Now, my parents pay much more attention to me and my sisters’ education and regularly take me to school. I receive love and care from the teachers and social workers who work for In Better Hands. Through the sponsorship program, I also receive food supplies and vitamins regularly, which help me grow healthier and stronger.
I have also started learning about Jesus Christ and growing in my faith. I feel deeply loved by my teachers and friends.
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to my beloved sponsor for always showing me love, care, and support. Because of your help, my life has changed so much. I am also very grateful to all the teachers and social workers who continually support me and my family.
May God bless In Better Hands!
