Hope for the Village
Hello, my name is Sovanna. I am eleven years old and currently in Grade 3. My father works as a laundry worker, and my mother works in a factory. I have two siblings, and I am the oldest child in my family.
We live in a small wooden house and often face financial difficulties. My parents work very hard and come home late, so they are not always able to watch over me closely. Over time, I began making poor choices. I stopped going to school regularly, lost interest in studying, and even lied to my parents about attending school.
My situation was later reported to a social worker, and my teacher informed my parents. They were shocked, but they worked together to help me. With encouragement from my teacher and the social worker, I returned to school and began learning and taking more responsibility.
I also started attending after school tutoring classes at the In Better Hands classroom, where I met caring teachers and friends. Most importantly, I learned about Jesus and how to pray. Their kindness helped me feel loved.
I am very thankful to my sponsor and my teachers who did not give up on me. Because of your love and support, I now have hope again.
