Hope for the Village
Hello, my name is Kimlay. I am 12 years old and currently studying in grade six. I come from a large family with eight children, as one of the older siblings, I help take care of my brothers and sisters. My father is seriously ill with a lung disease and cannot work, while my mother works as a hired farmer. Much of our income goes toward my father’s medical care, so my siblings and I often collect recyclable bottles to help earn money.
Because of our situation, I have faced many challenges in continuing my education. I used to walk to school because I had no bicycle, and I only had one uniform that I had to wash every day. Sometimes, I had to miss school to help my mother so our family could have food. There were times I felt like dropping out.
However, through my church, I learned about In Better Hands. My sister and I were able to join the ministry, and it has changed our lives. I received school supplies, a bicycle to go to school, and monthly rice support for my family. Social workers visit us regularly, encourage us, and pray for my father. Recently, my baby brother was also sponsored.
I am very thankful to In Better Hands for helping me continue my education. Your support has made a big difference in my life and my family.
Please continue to pray for my father’s health and for my mother to find stable work.
